Guilford County Emergency Services sponsors an EMS Ride-Along Program. This program is intended for the general public, but is frequently use by nurses and other public safety personnel to gain insight in how EMS functions. Prior to riding the individual must complete a 2.5 hour orientation class. These classes are taught 3-4 times a year at the EMS base at 1002 Meadowood St. in Greensboro. This class covers the following subjects:
- History and system function of Guilford County EMS
- Hazards and conditions likely to be encountered by the rider
- Infection control and exposure hazards
- Patient confidentiality and HIPPA issues
- Rider dress code and conduct
- Legal issues including liability waivers and other forms requiring signatures
You must be at least 16 years old to ride. If you are under 18 years of age you should be accompanied a parent or guardian to co-sign the release forms. For further information please contact: Marlina Straughn Guilford County EMS
