Do I have to go with you and how much does it cost?
If the patient is conscious, alert and oriented, they may refuse EMS transport, once they have been informed of the potential risk associated with their injury or illness.  The paramedics will have you sign a refusal.  If you are transported, there will be a charge as approved by the Guilford County Board of County Commissioners.  The charges range from $250.00 to $525.00 base plus a mileage charge. Additionally, some patients require intervention on the scene of a call, and refuse transport.  There may be a charge, it certain procedures are done by the paramedics.
