DAE members have the ability to fill many roles in the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) and throughout the disaster response.  Current positions include:

EOC Planning Coordinator:  An Emergency Operations Center (EOC) Planning Coordinator has the responsibility to coordinate the overall planning functions of the EOC including, but not limited to, the following:
  • Situation Report Compilation and Creation
  • Coordination of the EOC Time Clock and Benchmarks
  • Review of Significant Events (backup to the EOC Coordinator)
  • Data Accuracy Coordination in WebEOC (Shelter Board, Departmental Status Reports, etc)
  • Incident Contact documentation
  • Damage Assessment Administrative Support and Coordination
  • Conference Call System Scheduling
  • EOC Support Staff Scheduling

EOC Logistics Coordinator:  An Emergency Operations Center (EOC) Logistics Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the overall logistical needs of the Emergency Operations center and the overall incident response.  The functions include:

  • Ensuring Food Supplies in the EOC are adequate to support the operation
  • Coordinate facility concerns with the Emergency Services Facilities coordinator (Generator fuel, lights, phone trouble, etc)
  • Communications Equipment coordination
  • Completion of an ICS-205 Incident Communications Plan
  • Assignment of phone numbers to agency representatives and EOC Overhead staff
  • Support other logistics requests as needed to support field responses

EOC Switchboard Operators:  An Emergency Operations Center (EOC) Switchboard Operator is responsible for answering the main Emergency Operations Center Phone lines and transferring calls to the appropriate agency.  This position will also need to monitor a designated Talkgroup on the Guilford County 800mhz radio system and relay messages as appropriate.

 

WebEOC Coordinators:  An Emergency Operations Center (EOC) WebEOC Coordinator is responsible for monitoring entries into WebEOC and performing the Controller Functions on the Significant Event and Mission/’Task Boards.  This position may also assist with resolving WebEOC problems from assisting agencies and unlocking passwords as requested by the EOC Coordinator.

 

Disaster Hotline Operators:  An Emergency Operations Center (EOC) Disaster Hotline Operator has the responsibility to answer calls from the public requesting information on the ongoing disaster.

 

Central Receiving and Distribution Point (CRDP) Manager:  An Emergency Operations Center (EOC) CRDP Manager has overall management responsibility to manage the Central Receiving and Distribution Point as described in the Emergency Operations Plan.

 

Public Information Coordinators:  An Emergency Operations Center (EOC) Public Information Coordinator has the responsibility for coordinating Public Information from the Emergency Operations Center.  This may take place through a Formal Joint Information Center (JIC) but will most likely function as a coordinating position in the EOC.  The coordinator will work with Public Information Officers from other agencies and jurisdictions to ensure that a consistent message is being broadcast through the local media.  This position will also create fact sheets and Frequently Asked Questions as needed for the Disaster Information Hotline Personnel.

 

Emergency Operations Center Clerks:  An EOC Clerk functions as a general runner and administrative assistant to the EOC Coordinator and other key positions.  Duties may include making copies, answering phones, faxing documents, typing notes, entering information into WebEOC and other duties to support EOC Operations.
